Understanding Student Modes (Academic, Athletic, Extracurricular, Medical, Enrollment)

Edited

Welcome to our guide on student modes! This feature is designed to help administrators efficiently manage and monitor student compliance, eligibility, and status across various contexts such as academics, athletics, activities, medical requirements, and enrollment. Let’s dive into what student modes are, why they are important, and how to use them effectively.

What are Student Modes?

Student modes allow administrators to view compliance, eligibility, and status by context. Depending on the selected mode, a student’s compliance color and icons can change, providing a clear visual representation of their standing in different areas.

Why Student Modes Exist

Different school responsibilities require different eligibility checks. Student modes help you:

  • Evaluate the right requirements at the right time.

  • Avoid confusion between academic and athletic eligibility.

  • Take mode-specific actions efficiently.

Available Student Modes

You can switch modes from Manage > Students using the mode selector. Here’s a breakdown of the available modes:

Academic Mode

Used for:

  • Academic eligibility

  • General school compliance

  • Group-based tracking

Includes:

  • Academic form completion

  • Countdowns

  • Custom clearances (if applicable)

Athletic Mode

Used for:

  • Sports eligibility

  • Athletic compliance

Includes:

  • Sport-specific forms

  • Physical expiration tracking

  • Athletic custom clearances

Note: A student may be academically compliant but athletically ineligible due to an expired physical.

Extracurricular Mode

Used for:

  • Clubs and non-athletic activities

Includes:

  • Activity-specific forms

  • Countdowns and eligibility tracking

Medical Mode

Used for:

  • Medical visibility and safety planning

Includes:

  • Medical condition indicators

  • Concussion baselines

  • Physical expiration status

Keep in mind that Medical Mode does not determine the overall eligibility color.

Enrollment Mode

Used for:

  • Reviewing applicants

  • Managing enrollment workflows

Includes:

  • Applicant status

  • Registration review tools

  • Enrollment actions

Key Things to Remember

  • Compliance colors are mode-specific.

  • Filters and actions may vary by mode.

  • Always confirm you are in the correct mode before taking action.
