Step by Step Guide for Postseason Tournament Participation

Welcome to our guide on Postseason Tournament Participation, an agreement established by the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA). This form certifies that your school is operating its sports programs in accordance with current state law, as set by the state and local Departments of Health, and the governor's office. The tournament participation agreement applies to all sports and must be accepted only once for the entire school year. As an athletic administrator, it's your responsibility to enter/withdraw your sports' postseason tournament choices to the OHSAA by the specified deadline. Let's walk through the steps to manage your sports and submit the necessary postseason tournament choices!

NOTE: The OHSAA Tournament Participation form must be completed and signed by the school principal or athletic administrator in OHSAA tournaments for the school year.

To get started with selecting postseason tournament choices, follow these simple steps:

• Click the calendar icon in the upper-right corner.

• Confirm the school year you are working in to choose the postseason tournament entry/withdrawal.

• Under the correct school year, click on the School's Annual Checklist.

• Click the Checklist button for the corresponding high school for which you are making postseason tournament entries/withdrawals.

  

• On the left side of the screen, click on the OHSAA Tournament Participation form.

• In order for your school to be eligible to enter and participate in any OHSAA postseason tournament, your school must certify that you accept and will adhere to the following conditions. Type your initials in each box to affirm your school's certification.

  

• Confirm how many student-athletes are participating in bowling, golf, gymnastics, swimming & diving, track & field, tennis, wrestling, and cross country before making postseason tournament level selections for these sports.

  

• Prior to completing the OHSAA Tournament Participation Form, you should have verified your school's sport offerings for the school year.

• If you have not yet verified your sport offerings, please return to the Verify Sports form to confirm.

• All OHSAA-sanctioned sports must be marked as official and reported to the OHSAA by enabling the Official and Report to OHSAA check boxes under the Other Settings section within each sport's settings.

• Please ensure each officially sanctioned sport does not have one of the following words in the sport's title, otherwise the sport will be automatically marked as unofficial and not reported to the OHSAA:

  • Manager, Statistician, Medicine, Wheelchair, Tryout, Club, Clinic, Intramural, Test

• Once you have confirmed all the sports offerings at your school, please electronically sign the form at the bottom and click Submit Form.

• Select each sport's postseason tournament participation level by choosing Team, Individual, or None. Use the KEY to determine team and individual qualification.

  

• Selecting None indicates postseason tournament withdrawal for that sport.

• Read the authorization and certification statements.

• Type your initials in the box to acknowledge that you authorize and certify all OHSAA postseason tournament participation requirements.

  

• Once you have reviewed and initialed the Authorization and Certification section, please electronically sign the form at the bottom and click Submit Form.

By signing off on the form, in accordance with OHSAA Constitution Article 3-3-1 and your school/district's resolution card, you certify that your team(s) have been approved and are under the direct supervision and sponsorship of your Board of Education/similar governing body.
