Step by Step Guide for Competitive Balance
Welcome to our guide on Competitive Balance, a vital system established by the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA). This system helps ensure fair play by modifying tournament divisions based on the current player rosters in various official team sports. As an athletic administrator, it's your responsibility to gather and submit this roster data to the OHSAA by the specified deadline each season. Let's walk through the steps to manage your teams and submit the necessary reports!
Step 1: Assign Your Teams
To get started with assigning your teams, follow these simple steps:
Click on Manage > Sports.
Click on Roster in the sport's record.
Click the Assign Teams icon in the top right corner.
Ensure all varsity athletes are assigned to the Competitive Balance team for proper reporting.
Note: Assigning athletes to a varsity team will automatically add them to the Competitive Balance team.
Selections made are saved automatically, so click Return to Roster when assignments are complete.
TIP: If you need assistance with rostering, don't hesitate to check out the Helpful Information for Competitive Balance Rostering guide from the OHSAA.
Step 2: Submit Competitive Balance
Once your teams are assigned, it's time to submit your Competitive Balance report. Here's how:
Select the team you wish to report to the OHSAA from the All Teams dropdown menu.
Click the Export button and select OHSAA Competitive Balance Report from the dropdown.
Review and correct any errors in the information provided using the Edit option or Set District, especially if you determine the student's tier is incorrect. If you need assistance, please contact our Support Team.
Once you've verified all information, finish the process by clicking Submit to OHSAA to send off your final report.
Important: Before you click that button, be sure to carefully review your report and the OHSAA Competitive Balance Resource Center, as all submissions are final.
Thank you for your attention to detail in this important process! Your efforts help maintain a fair and competitive environment for all student-athletes.
